Outcrops of Miocene (Chokrak-Karaganian) sediments represented by poorly cemented from medium to fine-grained quartz sandstones, are occurring in the front ranges (Kara-burun, Narat-Tube, etc.) of Dagestan within the transition zone between the northern slope of Eastern Caucasus orogen and the Terek-Caspian foredeep trough. The commercial concentrations of gold and platinum in the Miocene sediments were proved by the atomic absorption spectroscopy. The reserves were evaluated.
